Mr. Redbeard is not a real captain, in the strictest sense, but he does have a red beard.

Yo Red Beard. You gotta tell me if you’ve got any connection to the Pyramid power folks from _Still Life With Woodpecker_. Is it really true what they say about Red Beards?
i actually read (or should i say “red”) “still life…” the summer before i was able to produce my own red hairs. so while the book did produce certain biological results, the nickname was not one of them. my email address in college was “Red Beard” after a roommate changed it in the first weeks of my freshman year and i was never able to figure out how to change it back.
I think it’s because said roomie recognized your supernatural powers.
